Mediterra Rigato Cork Flooring Collection
Capri cork introduced the Mediterra Rigato Cork Flooring Collection in September 2007 and the collection has been instantly successful for Capri with numerous specifications and orders generated within weeks of its introduction.
Rigato, which translates in English as ‘pinstripe’, was inspired by the success of Capri’s Mediterra Cable Dark cork veneer pattern introduced in November 2006. The Rigato Collection offers hand-crafted homogeneous striped cork tiles. The skilled European artisans who create Rigato, hand lay homogeneous strips of cork together resulting in beautifully crafted cork flooring with subtle natural variations.
The Natural color is a combination of Light and Dark cork. Autumn, Java, Mahogany and Terra Cotta are stained versions of the Natural pattern. Organic pigments are added to the water-based matte polyurethane finish and are applied to the pattern during the finishing process. This results in beautiful colors enhanced by the natural shade variations inherent in cork and the tailored designs Rigato offers.
Rigato’s Espresso pattern is made by combining Capri’s Dark and Terrain patterns. Espresso offers a rich dark design with a dimension quality resulting from this interesting combination of cork patterns. The Jumble pattern, as the name implies, is a random mix of the waste cut off of Light, Medium and Terrain tiles. The beauty of the pattern is created by what would otherwise be waste and the combination and placement changes each time the pattern is made.
As with all of the Mediterra Collection from Capri, Rigato is available in 3/16” thickness, and tile sizes of 12” x 12” or 24” x 24”, as well as custom sizes. Finished with durable water-based matte polyurethane, Rigato is suitable for commercial or residential use and will last decades when properly maintained. Rigato can be used alone or with existing Mediterra patterns. Rigato contributes to LEED credits.
With this innovative collection, Capri cork is being recognized as a design leader in the cork flooring arena.
A patent is pending for The Rigato Collection.
